About Us
A Good Idea Since 1994
That’s A Good Idea, Inc. was founded in 1994 by David and Donna Harmon right here in Canton, Texas.
The name came naturally. Over the years, the Harmons became known for offering unique, useful, and innovative products that often prompted customers to say the same thing when they saw them:
“That’s a good idea!”
The phrase was repeated so often that it became the perfect name for the business.
From the beginning, That’s A Good Idea was built around more than simply selling interesting merchandise. David and Donna placed a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction, honest business practices, and treating people fairly. Those principles helped the business grow and earn the trust of customers over many years.
Continuing the Tradition
In 2016, after many years of mentorship and friendship, David and Donna sold That’s A Good Idea, Inc. to James and Mary Margrave.
The transition represented more than a change in ownership. The Margraves were committed to continuing the values on which the company had been built while carrying the business into its next chapter.
Today, That’s A Good Idea continues to operate with the same priorities that have guided the business since 1994:
- Treat customers honestly and fairly
- Provide accurate information about the products we sell
- Stand behind our commitments
- Offer interesting, useful, unusual, and sometimes one-of-a-kind merchandise
- Make customer satisfaction a priority
What We Sell Today
Our inventory has evolved over the years, but the spirit behind the name remains the same.
Today you may find everything from art, antiques, collectibles, knives, tools, jewelry, home décor, taxidermy, vintage merchandise, and unusual finds to new products that simply catch our attention.
Many of our items are pre-owned, vintage, discontinued, collectible, or one of a kind. That means our inventory is always changing, and you never quite know what you may find.
We make every reasonable effort to accurately photograph and describe each item so our customers can make informed purchasing decisions.
Still Proudly Connected to Canton, Texas
More than three decades after the business began, That’s A Good Idea remains rooted in Canton, Texas.
We’re proud of where the company came from, grateful to the Harmons for the foundation they built, and committed to carrying those values forward.
Whether you’re searching for something collectible, practical, unusual, nostalgic—or simply something that makes you say “That’s a good idea!”—we’re glad you’re here.
